National Disability Insurance Scheme | NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme, known as the NDIS is a new national government initiative, providing support for people living with disability. It’s a whole-of-life approach - a major reform of disability services in Australia, designed to provide the right support according to each person’s needs and goals.
Supports may include but is not limited to health and therapy services, equipment, personal care, help at home and getting involved in the community.
Am I eligible for the NDIS?
People living with a disability can find out more information by visiting NDIS website’s NDIS Access Checklist.
You need to meet the following requirements:
- Have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to take part in everyday activities
- Be aged less than 65 when you first access the scheme
- Be an Australian citizen, live in Australia and hold a permanent visa or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
